This week on the podcast, I sat down with Michiel D. Burnett, president of DBC Offices and co-founder of the nonprofit DBC Gifts of Love, and y'all, I had to just let her talk. Every time I tried to ask my next question, she'd already answered three more I hadn't thought of yet.
đź’Ş Do it the way you shouldn't, then teach it the right way. Michiel calls herself an expert in every wrong way to build a business, and she means it as a testimony, not a complaint.
🏠Your mess becomes your ministry. DBC Gifts of Love exists because she and her husband lived through homelessness themselves, nearly a year in an extended-stay hotel, before they ever opened a nonprofit to help anyone else.
🙏 Obedience doesn't have to make sense. When they needed a place to live immediately, her husband said the Holy Spirit told him to call a landscaper. That one call led to a bigger house than the one they'd just left, for $50 down.
🔑 If He opened the door once, He'll do it again. Two co-working locations, both filled without ever paying for advertising. Michiel's answer for why: "It's not us."
