What Jalen Hurts Taught Us About Boundaries

By now you've probably seen it: Jalen Hurts was cleared to keep playing in London with a blood clot in his calf, then told to stay awake for 36 hours straight on the flight home because the risk of that clot moving was too dangerous to let him sleep. It's a wild story on its own. But underneath it is a lesson every business owner, employee, and leader needs to hear, because it's not really about football. It's about who's protecting your interests, and who isn't.

🏈 An organization protects itself first. However you feel about how it was handled, the game went on and the business kept moving. That's not a football problem, that's every workplace.

🛑 People do what you allow. Takers don't set their own limits, so you have to set yours, before you're the one pushed past them.

❤️ Your health isn't optional. Mental, physical, spiritual: there's no award for being the one who never takes a day off, and the job will absolutely replace you if you go down.

📝 You are your strongest asset. If something happened to you tomorrow, does your business, your team, your family know what to do? Is any of it in writing?

Watch above for the full story and all five lessons, and then ask yourself the question I close with: if you were Jalen Hurts, would you keep playing, or would you walk away?
